• Mrs. Shores came by Ms. Ali's class and gave a very informative presentation on recycling and composition. The kids really enjoyed learning "green" tips that will help improve our enviroment.
• Ni Hao! Caroline's mother, Ms. Heath, gave a truly enjoyable presentation to the students of 1905 about Caroline's native land, China. Caroline and her mom dressed in traditional Chinese clothing and taught the children all about the Chinese New Year. Thanks again to Ms. Heath for enriching our Chinese New Year celebration.
• Ms. Denise's class was treated to a wonderful presentation on Brazil. Pietra's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marchetti, and Anna Clara's mother, Ms. Borges, shared their rich, colorful cultures with the class. The children sampled homemade Brazilian chocolates and yummy homemade cheese bread. It is always great to learn about our students' heritage.
• We would like to thank Mrs. Thatcher and her son Eric for giving Ms. Ali's class a wonderful presentation on Spain. The kids really enjoyed Manchego cheese and tasty oranges. They even learned a few new Spanish words. Que divertido!
• Nico and his parents Ellie and Rob Sanchez gave a wonderful presentation on Mexico in Ms. Denise's class. We would like to thank them for all their hard work.
• Mr. Misri and his son Parum gave a fascinating presentation on ocean animals to Mrs. Ali's class. Parum delighted his fellow classmates with facts about sharks, jellyfish, whales, and the ocean floor. The students were buzzing about the interesting marine animals the rest of the day.
• Thank you Laura and Matthew Gilbey for a fantastic presentation on all the cool things that can be seen on a summer road trip through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Texas. We learned all about Ft. Morgan - a civil war fort stocked with old canons and other memorabilia. We also learned about the fascinating creatures that live on the beach (like crabs and jellyfish) and about the exciting Blue Angel Stunt planes.
• Mr. and Mrs. Prath stopped by Mrs. Ali's class and helped their daughter Lily with an interesting presentation on Hawaii. They had a multimedia slide show with pictures and video clips from their recent trip to our 50th state. Our students were intrigued by the beauty and culture of Hawaii and were treated to some delicious pineapple!
• Mr. Clement, Kaden and Kennedy's father, visited Mrs. Ali and Ms. Sunita's classes just in time for Memorial Day to speak with us about his work with the U.S. Air Force. In addition to providing insight into the excitement of flight, Mr. Clement reminded us all of what incredible things members of the armed forces do for us each and every day.
• Our 1905 students had the privilege of listening to Ms. Kim Wehrung, Paul's mom, perform some opera for us. It was such a treat for everyone to learn a little more about different kinds of music and to hear pieces from Mozart and other classical composers.
• Mr. and Mrs. Zavadsky, Benjamin and Alexander's parents, made a visit to Ms. Denise's class and taught everyone about Russian culture, language, and history. We especially enjoyed learning the Russian alphabet!
• Mr. Green-Musselman, Liam's dad, came to visit Mrs. Ali's class with his Mr. Potato Head in tow to give us a philosophy lesson, proving that we are never too young to start thinking about what it is that makes us who we are.
• Mr. Bordon, Ruby's father, made us all put on our math hats and start thinking about fractions. Everyone had a terrific time!
• Mrs. Huang, Allison's mom, came just in time for the Chinese New Year and told us all about her family's recent trip to China. Our students get so excited learning about foreign places and cultures. It really was a treat for everyone!

One of the Best in Austin!

"Northwest Montessori is as good as it gets when it comes to child care, education and a nurturing environment. More than anything else, it is their amazing teachers that make it better and differentiate it from other run-of-the-mill schools. My son went to Northwest Montessori for three years from age 3 to 6. He used to look forward to going to school every day and loved the happy and exciting environment at school. My son is more than ready for Elementary school.
I absolutely love Northwest Montessori House of Children. They really motivate and encourage kids to do their best in a very fun and loving, nurturing way. Ms. Ali, the teacher for the 4-5 year old age group is full of energy and has to be among the best teachers in Austin. She is personally committed to making it a wonderful experience for all the kids and parents and is genuinely interested in making sure that the kids are learning. The feeling within the school is absolutely positive and inspiring.
My wife and I consider ourselves fortunate to have found this fantastic school and we highly recommend it to all parents looking for quality education and care!"
Pros: Great Teachers, Nurturing environment
Cons: None
Outstanding school

"My child has been at Northwest Montessori since he was 22 months old, and he is now 3 years old. From the first day of school for him, we've continued to be impressed by the quality of the teachers and the program at NWM. My child has serious food allergies and is also pretty sensitive about trying new things. I was worried about his food allergies and whether the teachers would take that seriously. I can honestly say that he has not had a single incident at school and I attribute that to the outstanding quality of the teachers. I was also worried he'd resist school and not take to the teachers. He was previously in a mother's day out program where he was never really comfortable. I thought it was his personality. But from day one at NWM, he loved it. I think it's because the teachers I always feel they really get to know the kids and make them feel so special. They are wonderful educators and really great listeners. I would recommend this school to people who wish their children to have a nurturing, safe environment for learning and exploring new things. i could write so much more about this wonderful place."
Pros: Extracurricular activities offered, experience of the teachers, value, class size, shaded playground
Cons: Wish there was room for more parent involvement

"My son has been at NW Montessori House of Children since he was just over 2 years old. Now 4 1/2, he has learned so much not only academically but also socially and behaviourly. The NWM program is not just learning the alphabet and numbers but assisting with potty training (glad we're through with that!), manners, learning about other countries, cultures, nature & space, doing artwork, how to play and get along with others, how to be quiet at times(!), etc, etc. NW Montessori has fun days for the kids throughout the year (i.e. summer splash day) and has special programs in December and July 4th. As a parent, I have felt a true partnership with the teachers of my son's classes. My son's teachers love what they do and I have the utmost respect for them as they help their students grow in so many ways."
Pros: A happy child who loves his teachers and his preschool days.
Cons: None
Excellent montessori school

"This school has wonderful, bright teachers who clearly care about each student. My child came home with knowledge at age 4 that I don't think I ever had e.g. knew all our presidents and all 50 states (and capitals) in alphabetical order! This school is one of the best I've seen and my child was happy and thriving there. My only complaint is that it stops at age six..."
Pros: Excellent, caring teachers and lots of student body diversity
Cons: none

"We have had the honor of having our daughter in NW Montessori for 2 years. Our son will join her in January, 2009. We continue to be impressed with the loving structure that is provided by the teachers and the curriculum. She has excelled due to the Montessori teaching methods and does very well academically as well as socially. She loves to go to school each and every day, and to us, that is one of the most important aspects of school - to instill that true love for learning early!"
Pros: Longevity and stability of teaching staff; fully shaded playground; sense of community with the other parents; Christmas & Summer Programs!; curriculum; location
Cons: not a single one

Parents' Reviews
"My daughter has grown into a lovely young lady at NW Montessori. She is smarter and more confident now."
"We are always amazed (but no longer surprised) when Liam beams with pride after he learns how to spell new words we didn't teach him at home. The teachers at NWM are not only talented and dedicated, they truly care about all their students."
"Over the years that my son has been at Northwest Montessori House of Children, we have come to love this school, and would recommend it to all parents. What is best is that the teachers and staff seem to love what they do. Along with being firm with the children, they are friendly and affectionate, providing them with a loving, cheerful and encouraging environment. The science fair in my son's class this year was a truly amazing experience. Each of the 30+ children had their own experiment which they presented and shared with their families and some local experts. My son articulated the complete functioning of a doorbell with authority. We were amazing to see how much the children knew not only about their own experiments, but also those of their classmates. I have found that here at Northwest Montessori, they provide the children with a stimulating environment that truly hones their love for learning."
